EGTON 5 FIRST INN 1
First battled hard in atrocious conditions at Egton's Sports Ground in the opening round of the Dick Chambers Cup.

They held the hosts comfortably, until a low cross was deflected past Jackson for the opening goal. A superb second was added moments later but First battled on.

They got their reward for some good counter-attacking football when Webster reached a loose ball on the right edge of the Egton box and slotted home from a tight angle to make it 2-1 just before the interval.

The half-time team talk from James Howard was to hold tight for the first ten minutes but that wasn't possibly when the hosts scrambled home a slightly dodgy looking third. Two more goals were added, as well as one that struck the post and another that stuck on the line reflecting the shite conditions.

Despite the scoreline, this was a good First In performance, especially missing both Darren Wright and Dean Abbott and against very strong opposition. The First backline were excellent and very unlucky at times.

Grisedale led the line well and Webster provided good support. Owen managed to change his previous red First In kit to an all brown mess by the end.

Jackson, Thomas, Usher(Hunter), Tose, Steele,
Owen, Howard(Snaith), Grisedale, Webster, C Headlam,
