| 1. Does the Hobby Cost a Lot? The cost of the Hobby varies for the roll you wish to portray. A Typical Private uniform and gear will run you between $1,000 to $1,500. But you can always buy used uniforms or if you can so make some of you items. 2. Is it dangerous? Well, you are working with Black Powder, changing weather, and physical endurance. FCL's Number one Rule is SAFETY. And we have places for all people, if you do not wish to do Miltiary, or a limited roll in it we will find you a home.. 3. Do I have to have an ancestor in the War? No You do not, some of us do, but that is not a requirement. 4. Is it a Racist Group? NO! FCL will not put up with any of its members making RACIST remarks. We are a family based re-acting group that believes in the History of the soldiers and Family we are portraying. 5. Do I have to join a Unit? No, you do not if you do not wish to, you can join as a single person, of if one of the units on our site is close to you, please feel free to talk with them. 6. I am in a Unit Now, if my whole unit joins do we have to give up our Rank? No, your unit in the FCL is just that your Unit, you run it the way you see fit. The only Rule we have is no Company Commanders can have above the Rank of Captain on the Field. 7. Do you Pay Dues? The FCL does not charge dues, but some of the individual Units may. 8. Do you stop if it rains? No, we continue on with event no matter what the weather is, heat, rain or snow. 9. How do I get equipment/uniform? There are what we call sutlers that sell Equpiment/uniforms just about anything you need, we have a few on our link page that you can deal with, or you can find them at all events. But a suggestion is that if you are a new person to the hobby, talk with a memeber, have them go with you to help you find what is best for you or the unit you have joinned. |
