Our Vision Document

The Mission of First Alliance Church is to:

Love God .....by
Obeying His word ...and
Volunteering as servants ...to
Embrace the world with His Gospel

  • Why choose this acrostic to express our vision? Galations 5: 6b says... "The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love." In his first letter to Corinth Paul says, "And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love. Follow the way of love... " (I Corinthians 13: 13-14: 1) Love is the greatest commandment, (Matthew 22: 36-39) the mark of a true Christian, (John 13: 35) and the essence of God's nature (I John 4: 7 & 8).

  • It is true that there are many worthy goals to the Christian walk, but we believe having love as our primary focus will ensure the proper expression of God's will... "And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them together in perfect unity." (Colossians 3: 14)

Love God... is the first phrase of our mission. Everything must flow from this. We love Him because he first loved us. (I John 4: 10-21) The beginning point for all of us is to experience God's love and become part of His Family. Then our life and prayer must be, "that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen us with power through His Spirit... so that Christ may dwell in our hearts through faith. And that we being rooted and established in love, may have power... to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge - - that we may be filled to the measure of all the fulness of God." (Ephesians 3: 12-21) As we grow in our understanding of God's love, we will thankfully and passionately express our love to Him by...

Obeying His word... the next phrase of our mission is the natural progression of loving God. "Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me." (John 14: 2) We cannot love God without knowing his commands and acting upon them. We will work diligently as a church family to provide every disciple a foundational knowledge of what God wants coupled with an equal emphasis on doing it! Always remembering "...the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith." (I Timothy 1: 5) and...

Volunteering as servants... our next phrase conveys that we will not be content to obey God when convenient or self beneficial. To be Faith-filled, Available and Teachable servants is our goal. "If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ... then make my joy complete by... having the same love... Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant... " (Philippians 2: 1-7) to...

Embrace the world with his gospel... This final phrase speaks to the scope and sum of our mission. We want to take ground for Jesus, not just hold it. We will teach, train, pray and sacrificially give of ourselves and our wealth, energy and time to be the body of Christ taking the Gospel from Billings to every nation. SEND ME! (Luke 24: 45-47; Acts 1: 7 & 8, Isaiah 6:8)
