I haven't always been a pastor. I spent nearly 20 years a a police officer. This background makes for some very interesting sermon illustrations, but also prepeared me for working in peoples lives. I have seen the worst in people and I have seen the best. It's kind of like the way God looks at us. He sees the worst possible view. He saw me, before I accepted Jesus Christ as my savior and Lord, as a completely sinful being. Nothing in me was good enough to meet God's standard of holiness. But because of Jesus' sacrifice on my behalf, I can now honestly and humbly say that the relationship has been totally restored. I am now a child of the King.
Being a pastor has been a real eyeopener for me. I heard the jokes...about preachers only working one day a week. The reality is more like 24/7/365. Like a policeman, a pastor is never really "off duty". But that is how it should be. As Christians, in God's service, none of us are ever "off duty".
This section will change from time to time, but for now, it's just welcome, and I hope to see you in church on Sunday!
