Devotion & Opening Prayer
Chairperson Alvin Rose opened the meeting with prayer.


New Business

Gas Logs -Tracy Heffnerstated that the gas logs for the parsonage had been purchased and ordered at the cost of $630.00. THe UMM will discuss at their next meeting paying for the installation at a cost of $200.00.
Emmaus Walk -Jody Stouffer stated that he appreciated the prayers, thoughts and letters that he received during his Emmaus Walk.He also stated that enough of the church members have atended to maybe start a reunion group of the Eammaus Community at 1st Methodist.


Trustees Report

Lanny Shelton rep[orted on the following items:
Sump Pump -has been replaced and the cost deducted from the boiler repair bill from Ingold.
Drainage Problem -These problems are going to be fixed.It was also noted that in inclement weather that salt will be placed on the sidewalk and from entrances an hour before services will begin.
Trustees February 24th Meeting – 4 Major Items were discussed at the meeting and the recommendation is as follows:
(1) Heat/Air System replacement at the cost of $15,000+
(2) Roof replacement at total cost of approximately $14,000 [$9,362.60 of this is in the bank] leaving approx. $5,000+ balance
(3) Church Doors – non-wooden doors, hinges and accessories to be installed in Spring. (monies for this is in Memorial Fund)
(4) Nursery Update – at the cost of $2,500+ – replacing all furniture, toys, painting, carpet, etc. Possibly getting Jody, Joni and Jenna to paint a mural for the room. It was also noted that the nursery will be kept locked when services are not being held.
TOTAL APPROXIMATE COST FOR THESE ITEMS $25,000.
After discussion it was voted unanimously to accept this recommendation and have Lanny Shelton present it before the church on Sunday, March 7 and get congregational response. Beverly Wright will check with the bank on a loan and also have information ready for Sunday. Sinclair Bolick also stated that he would pledge funds for this and challenge church members to do the same.


Nurture

REVIVAL - Pastor Kalish reported that there were around 40+ each night. It was noted that next years Revival will try to be set at the later date due to the unpredictable weather in February.
HOMECOMING -Pastor Kalish reported the Homecoming is set for September 26, 2004 and that Wade Childers will be preaching.
LENT -Kim Abernathy reported that FUMC will be hosting the Lent service on March 21 and we will need refreshments.
EASTER EGG HUNT - Kim Abernathy reported that Saturday, April 10 has been set for the Easter Egg Hunt. The exact time will be announced later.
VBS - St. Martin’s will be hosting VBS this year and the dates are June 13-18. Time to be announced.
SUNDAY SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT - Charlie Curtis and Kim Abernathy will co-chair this position. Charlie will handle the older classes and Kim will handle the younger classes.
SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSROOMS - Kim Abernathy stated that the classrooms need to be upgraded and more inviting. We can take one classroom at a time and work on it.


Witness Report

Pastor Kalish reported that David Early is putting together visitation teams. They will visit the “visitors” and deliver a loaf of Leola Roberts’ bread. She also reminded members that they should contact members that are absent.
UMW Report

Tracy Heffner commented on the World Day of Prayer that will be held Friday, March 5 at May’s Chapel at 7:00 p.m.

UMM Report

Jody Stouffer reported on the following items:
UMM District Breakfast - There will be a UMM District Breakfast held on March 7 at 7:00am at Bethlehem UMC in Claremont. Men attending the breakfast will meet in the church parking lot at 6:30am and take the van. There are currently 8 men signed up to atend.
Breakfast - The next Methodist Mens Breakfast will be held on Sunday, March 14th at 7:00am in the Fellowship Hall.
Charter -The Methodist Men renewed their charter for the 2004 year and members will receive their UMM membership cards at the next meeting.
Fundraisers -The men are currently making plans to hold a fish fry and golf tournament this spring as a fundraiser. Dwayne Wilson has been asked to contact Glen Oaks for possible dates for the golf tournament. Tim Abernathy is looking into dates for the fish fry.
Youth Fishing Day - Jody Stouffer has begun planning a special day between the UMM and church youth. A Fishing Rodeo is being planned for this summer. No dates have been set at this time. UMM members will be paired with a youth from the church and prizes will be awarded for various categories. Denise Campbell has offered the use of her pond for this event.
Church Basketball -The UMM donated $100.00 to the church basketball team to assist them in meeting their registration costs.
Emmaus Walk - UMM President Jody Stouffer attended the Feb. 19th CCEC Walk. He felt it was a very powerful and inspiring experience.
Regional Conference - UMM President Jody Stouffer is looking into the possibility of attending the UMM Regional Conference March 28-30 in Pocono Manor, Pennsylvania.

UMYF Report

Jody Stouffer reported on the following items:
Nursing Home Bingo - Bingo at the Lincoln Nursing Home had to be rescheduled to Sunday, Feb. 29 due to the snow.
Souper Bowl Lunch - The Souper Bowl Luncheon was a great success. We had 14 different chilis entered with Jenna Ledford's taking 1st place. $232.00 in donationswere collected for the Hickory Soup Kitchen and the Corner Table in Newton.
Retreats -The Winter Ski Retreat, Feb. 6-8 turned out wonderful. 7 youth and 4 adults attended. The excessive snow and ice didn't hamper our spirits! The skiers enjoyed a fun day on the slopes of the Appalachian Ski resort. Those that didn't ski enjoyed a quite day at the cabin playing cards and fixing a big italian spaghetti and meatball dinner for the others. Sunday morning the snow and ice kept us from attending church services but we had a very enriching bible study based off of the movie "Bruce Almighty". The next retreat will be the John's River Retreat scheduled for March 26-28. Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory will be the theme for this retreat. A retreat planing session is scheduled for Thursday, March 4 in the Fellowship Hall at 7:00pm.
2004 Mission Trip - Plans and reservations are continuing to be made for the 2004 New York City Mission Trip Scheduled for May 28-June 5. There are 7 adults and 8 youth attending.
ECCCM -The UMYF received a thank-you note from ECCCM for their $150.00 donation from the Haunted House earnings.
Salvation Army - The UMYF received a thank-you note from the Salvation Army thanking them for supporting a family this past Christmas.
Haunted House - Melissa reported that $6,300.00 was earned from the Haunted House Fundraiser this year. One more day of moving lumber will be needed to finish this project. The UMYF will need to find a new location next year if they are going to continue with the Haunted House because the current building will no longer be available.

Other Business

COMFIRMATION CLASS: Classes will begin on Sunday, March 7.
FLOSSIE CLONINGER SCHOLARSHIP: Applications will be available in April and are due May 2. Pastor Kalish would like to present this scholarship at the graduation ceremony at the High School if it is awarded to a Senior.
ADMINISTRATIVIE COUNCIL MEETING: The next meeting will be Thursday, March 25 at 7:00 p.m.
