| David this is amazing I dont what to say. Gabriella said still shocked at what she was seeing. Say youll forgive me for being so terrible lately. He said genuinely. She looked into his gray eyes seeing the sparkle in them once again. I cant believe you did all this. She said looking around the room. Huge stuffed teddy bears and no doubt hundreds of flowers filled the room, in the middle of which sat a small table with two candles and wine. He took her hand and kissed it, she thought of Mark. Mark I love you Gabby, I love you so much it kills me that weve fought like this. Gabby looked down. Theres something I have to tell you. She said walking to the table, David quickly sat down across from her. What is it? he asked worriedly. She looked at his face. I think weve changed David. 'Tell him about Mark.' There was a long span of silence. No, no Gabs no ones changed I just have been a jerk lately, and I know that. I love you Gabby, I want you to be my wife. Her skin prickled with his sincerity, her mind began to spin as he pulled her up from the table and held her in his arms. 'Tell him about Mark!' She had forgotten how warm it was there, and comforting. 'But I dont love him anymore' She thought to herself, he was kissing her. She kissed back only slightly, then she pulled away from him looking at his face. David sometimes people grow apart, we all change I dont think this is going to work. Tears glazed his eyes. I need you Gabs And I love you so much honey, I know you still love me. You have to, he choked out. 'Im sorry Mark I have to do this.' She wished more than any thing that he could hear her. Make love to me, David, she whispered in his ear, she almost cried as she heard him smile. 'I dont want to do this' She thought desperately as his mouth found hers. She imagined it was Mark and kissed him with all the passion she had to give. Lying in his arms, she knew. She knew it was over, his expression couldnt lie. He had a large smug smile on his face as he gazed at her. She hadnt wanted to miss a thing so she didnt fantasize it was Mark this time, she wanted to know for sure if it was over between them. And it was over. She waited till was asleep to get out of that bed and lay down on the couch in the other room, she clung to one of the huge teddy bears as she wept. Im sorry. Gabby whispered again. You had sex with him! Mark repeated his voice alarmingly loud. Gabby closed her eyes I had to know if it was over. Oh come on Gabriella you knew damn well it was over by the time we met, I saw it in your eyes! You didnt love him! You dont know that! You dont know what Im feeling or what my brain thinks! She shouted back. Mark looked at her. I thought for sure I did, maybe I dont know you as well as I thought. Please, Mark try to understand. I had to be sure. Mark rolled his gorgeous eyes at her. You had to be sure you had a nice memory. Gabby shot up from his couch. Thats not true! I dont believe you! he snapped back. Gabby pushed past him and tried to get out the door. Mark grabbed her arm and pulled her back to him rougher than he intended. Let me go! she screamed as tears blurred her vision. Why did you make love with him? He asked his voice sounded so weak and strained, tears were in his eyes. Gabby blinked sending her tears down her cheeks. I told you the truth Please believe me Mark. I would never lie to you. He stared into her eyes for the longest time as a comfortable silence passed between them. Im sorry, he whispered finally holding her in his arms, she let him engulf her as she cried into his shoulder. ****** Two days later****** Who is he Gabby? Davids voice asked stopping her dead in her tracks. They were walking to the marina to take a boat trip for the day; it had been her idea. Who? Gabby asked turning around. The man youve been sneaking out to see for the past two mornings when Im asleep I told you, I go jogging in the mornings. Then why do you come back smelling like him? he asked bitterly. Gabby bit her bottom lip. I dont know what youre talking about David. She said looking at the ground. Well maybe you will when I read this. I found it in your suitcase this afternoon when you were asleep It says: Where true Love burns Desire in Loves pure flame It is the reflex of our earthly frame That takes its meaning from the nobler part But translates the language of the heart Love forever, Mark. Gabby had tears in her eyes as she looked at Davids cold face. Theres something I have to tell you. Two days later: Im sorry man Really I am, I know she meant a lot to you. Scott said into the phone, he watched Hillaree carry their suitcases out of the cabin. She was getting a cold. He listened to her sneeze as she walked out of the room again. Ill see you in Florida okay? Scott asked, his face etched with concern for Mark. Scott hung up the phone, and Hillaree paused in front of him. Jagger in the car? he asked Yeah. What happened with Mark? she asked, wiping her red nose; it looked out of place on her pretty face. He hasnt seen or heard from Gabriella in two days, he guesses that she got back with her fiance. Hillaree shook her head and sniffled. Probably doesnt deserve him anywayHows he doing? I havent heard him like that in a long time A cold gust of wind came in the door bringing snowflakes with it. Scott took her hand. Lets go home. Mark ignored his feelings, making his face like a wall. 'No emotions,' he told himself. Gabriella would just become a memory, 'just another nice ride.' He wanted to shoot himself for thinking that. He was being driven to the airport in a cab; he turned on his cell phone immediately getting a call from his agent. He smirked. Life would get back to normal. Gabby said nothing to David on the drive to airport they hadnt said anything to each other in two days. He had made her feel terrible about Mark he had threatened to kill himself if she saw him again. She kept telling herself that she would find him back in the U.S. Meanwhile she kept telling David that they were only together until they got back home and then it was over. 'Come on Gabby, you know you wont ever see him again' Tears filled her eyes as she pulled out a poem shed planned on giving to him from her purse. Now she would never get a chance. Youre Mark Tremonti, the airline chick said reading his pass. Im a huge fan could you sign this? She asked holding out a pen and paper to him. Mark rolled his eyes behind his dark sunglasses. Sure, he said writing his name as unreadable as possible with a fake smile to her. She looked like she might drop dead. After a few drawn out minutes she handed him his boarding pass. Thank you Sir. She said winking at him, he nodded, turned, and went to find his gate. A minute passed and he could see his gate from here. Dude! Mark! A woman called after him. He turned it was the airline chick. She caught up with him trying to catch her breath. Yes? He asked looking at her worriedly. She held out a piece of paper. Some woman back there told me to give this to you . She said. Mark took the paper and unfolded it. It read: |
