A battered heart lays torn and broken
By:  Matt Ferraro

A battered heart lays torn and broken
From it spills the crimson blood
Cruelty kills all those who lay unspoken
Then goes the blood in the tear's flood

How shall thee combat a loved foe
In my pain I turn, a deviled beast
Still beneath the moons silver glow
To take her scorning love, a sinner's feast

Death to me shall I consume
But living death if I refuse
Cursed by life since falling from the womb
Clawing my brain unsure what fate to choose

Laying quiet, trapped in a false made night
Content, but lonely in this cold dark tomb
Wanting only her to bring her warming light
And with her light a love may bloom

Shall I continue on this terrible line
Or shall I move forth to save my soul
Unknowing of actions to make her mine
And lost and beaten from loves' heavy toll.
