| Bennett Robinson
Boasting without doubt the best nickname of the team, Bennett or Ben Robinson has the honour of being the new kid on the block. And just as the puncy boys band used to sing out- 'hes got the right stuff.' First the nickname: Op1 Kenobi For all the ladies out there, it is taken from the Star Wars Trilogys Ben Kenobi, a great Jedi Master. The Op1 because we cunningly devised that if he went to Churchie he must of gotten an Op1. So was born the 29th Ranger. Though his nickname implied being smart and having the amazing ability to wield a lightsaber we didnt really notice any great Force brandishing at the start. He actually had the ability at the nets to get bowled so often that the bowlers tried hard NOT to rattle the stumps but had little success. Then came the debut game against Ned Flanders XI. With the score at 8 for 75 all were putting on zinc and rolling the arm over ready for a long day in the field. He then in both innings showed that not only could he hit the ball but he could stay in!! We were all shocked!! Op1 proved over the rest of the years games what an important player he was to the team. Never flamboyant or conceited he always played for the team. When batting, he always controlled his innings and was a great anchor to have in the middle order. He approached bowling with the same level headedness, he knew his limitations and bowled to his strengths with some great results. Even though Op1 joined halfway though the season he has quickly become an esteemed Ranger. We are glad to have him and hope that his Ranger career continues to flourish over the years to come. -Dr Elliot |
