| Jamie Sweet. Never has one player made such a difference to a cricket team. Jamie is a champion with the bat and the ball, but even these skills combined could never compare with his mouth! There is always a different vibe when Jamie is in the side. Without him on the field, the rangers are subject to becoming lifeless and dull, even bored. But with Jamie, the entire team is glistening. Aside from his verbal skills, Jamie is a fantastic cricket player. Hes a versatile batsman, who plays with an attacking style. Jamie has every shot in the book, and hell be sure to let you know about it when youre bowling at him. Perhaps the biggest problem for Jamie this year has been his awful luck. his diamond duck in the very first game was the start of his run of bad luck. The trend continued when he pulled his hamstring whilst performing a brilliant fielding maneuver. Some may argue that he may have been unlucky not to bowl more often. Written by Dale Stevenson 2006-07 Jamie Lee Sweet Despite having a severely girly name, Jamie Lee Sweet has been a bastion of the Rangers Team over the last season. Many have said that he was the less skilled out of the Sweet Brothers. Many have also said that even though he can smash the heck out of your bowling in the nets he was a deer in headlights in the real game. Many have said that is constant stirring and sledging was to hide his inability to play the game at a competitive level. I never believed any of them.. He was truly a great guy to have as a Ranger. Physically stunning with his ginger crop and a low centre of gravity he was the true all-rounder. He has opened the bowling with pace and bounce and surprisingly for a Ranger some accuracy. He also opened the batting on one occasion with a gritty, hard fort and sometimes dazzling duck. But what stood out to me was his ability to change, sometimes in one over Symonds like to a wily leg spinner who unforgettably on a rather forgetful day claimed the best batsman of the comp with a ball that will never be forgotten. That is probably due to the fact that every time you talk to Jamie he brings it up complete with a running commentary and everything. In my personal belief, seriously, is his greatest ability was to create noise, and boy could he create it. From the constant chatter on the field to the animalistic bongo rendition on the bin this fella was never far from the spot light. The ranger team needed someone like Jamie he has skill, heart and a huge attitude and was an example to me personally as a green ranger. Elliot |
