The standard of batting in the local side was very low. Even at the net practice, they couldn't hit a thing. Finally, the captain rushed forward and grabbed the bat.
'Now bowl me some fast ones!' he yelled. Six fast balls came down in quick succession and the captain missed them all. Not to be put off he glared at the team and shouted,
'Now that's what you're all doing. Get in there and hit them!'
I bet the first player to put their hand up would be Gordon Cottrell. Throughout the season we all saw time and time again Gordo come into bat and take charge. His outstanding performance exemplified his skill and determination to reach his personal best and do his bit for the team. Gordon is a player who has the athletic ability to back-up his talent with the bat by fielding with excellence and producing bowling figures such as��. 2.5 runs for 4 wickets. (In the one-day series)
Oft times player were not able to play every week, however through emails and worries past around we were all able to hear and appreciate the magic of Gordo. From his big sixes to his bowling figures and who can forget his hilarious sledges. Gordo has made the past season an event and all have enjoyed his spirit for the game
