| Elliot Cowan: Also known among the cricket community as 'Joe Dirt', and 'The Doctor'. Doc Cowan's Rookie Year in Ranger colours started like most of the squad in 2007- with mixed results. people put it down to the change of a soccer ball for a cricket ball, but only few knew the truth behind the 2nd half blitz of the season which saw Doc Cowan step up and punish the opposition who came up against him. It was because of 'the curse of his fusion.' All the hype and talk of his new bat jnxed this poor man to only maintain a modest average of 18 runs a game and 4-5 wickets with his bowling in the first half of the season. But one training session changed all theat, a crack appeared in the handle and this curse was lifted. Doc Cowan became a new man using a new bat, some say it was even the beginning of a mid-life crisis for he appeared at one game with a blonde mullet after his childhood hero, Warick kappa, and sporting his favourite Hawaiian shirt. A name change was even on the cards to complete his new idendity. The game against St Barts was the birth of Joe Dirt... the man who started to desroy batting lineups with his lack of pace swing balls. He even collected a 5 wicket haul to add to his stats! But his form was not ony wihth the ball, Joe Dirt became the only Ranger this year, MAYBE even in the history of the club I dont know to collect a 5 wicket haul and a 100 run ton a calendar year Good on ya Big Joe!! -Ben 'Duncan' Hollis |
