| Asa opened the rangers batting with Dr Elliot and took up the challenge with enthusiasm. In only his second innings at the crease he scored his first 50 for the club as he played some amazing cover drives, square cuts and a few dodgy hook shots to the boundary. There were people in the crowds overheard saying, man that guy looks and plays like Michael Hussey!! From that moment on Mr Cricket was born!
These mighty batting feets were only achieved I might add, with the help of the all powerful, Gray Nicholls Powerbow. Besides asas obvious talent with the bat it would be remiss of me not to mention some of his other great qualities. Mr Cricket has always been full of encouraging words, keeping a positive energy throughout matches and sacrificing his body in the field to dive through mud and overgrown paddocks to save valuable runs in the outfield. Truly he has set the benchmark for fielding prowess at the Rangers cricket club. These qualities have been a major contribution to the energy and good team spirit shared throughout this season and of course Mr Cricket is leading by example. Unfortunately we found out this season that although Mr Cricket is super human he is not totally invincible. He received a savage yorker that smashed his big toe which put him out of action for the last couple of games but even this setback did not damper his involvement with the team. As it is my responsibility to share Mr Crickets contributions this year I believe the whole team will echo my sentiments when I say that we hope that the cricket bug will strike next year and that we have not seen the last of Mr Cricket!!
