Developed by Firetect Inc., the Fire Fighter towel is a 22-inch by 40-inch,
Turkish towel, treated with a flame retardant and dyed black.
When it is tossed over a cooking fire, the flames go out.
Sound easy? According to Firetect employee, Scott Howlett,
the concept behind the towel could not be simpler. And while the idea has
been around for some time,
Firetect Inc. is the first company to actually market the towel.
"The towel is easy to recognize, easy to use, easy to store
near the stove and inexpensive", Howlett said. "It is the perfect fire divise to have right
next to any stove at home, work, in restaurants,in schools...anywhere."
In addition, the Fire Fighter Towels are good to use on
outdoor grills and even will extinguish a small fire on furniture.
"The towels are dyed black to distinguish them from other kitchen towels.
As soon as you see it, you know what it is, and know it's not the towel you want to
dry your hands on", Howlett said.
Treated with a non-toxic, environmentally safe flame retardant,
the Fire Fighter Towel can withstand two to three washings and
is designed for more than one use.
