EVERY DAY

Severus
was walking along the corridors of the third floor when he chanced upon
a group of giggling girls. In the middle of the group, stood a blushing
witch. Severus rolled his eyes and moved right along.
"Merlin, but why is he so ...
negative every day?" Severus heard a girl whisper.
"Shhhhh! Are you mad? You
don't want him to hear you!"
"Come on! Let's go back to the
common room! Hey Elise! What's your reply to Chris' invitation? Are you
going?"
The
voice of the girl faded as Severus descended a spiraling staircase. He
walked right into a group of boisterous, Gryffindor wizards, and for
some reason, his beetle black eyes started to scan for a certain,
messy-haired student.
"Sorry, Professor," one of the
Gryffindors
apologized, and Severus belatedly recalled that Harry Potter had
graduated from Hogwarts two years ago.
Severus went straight to
the staff room, but headed out twice as quick. "This is insane," he
muttered, leaving a room that was filled with red, pink, and white
love-shaped balloons, and singing creatures. When he entered the Great
Hall, he saw some of the professors bearing discontented expressions.
"What
is he thinking?" Severus heard McGonagall speak softly, but he noticed
that she glowed when three owls swooped over her head. Three red
envelopes landed on the table.
"Who is that from, Minerva?"
Professor Sprout asked in a teasing manner, and again, Severus rolled
his eyes. He really did not understand why the females in the castle
were so distracted with Valentine's Day, which was two weeks away.
Severus
groaned when a flock of owls flew across the hall. One came and hovered
above his head, and dropped a sack onto his lap. He took a deep breath
and dumped the contents before starting to filter for important
documents. Most of them were Valentine cards, love letters and flames,
except one. A black card. That piece he kept inside his robe, he dumped
the rest back into the sack and threw it casually into the nearby
fireplace.
"You should at least read
them, Severus," McGonagall said to him absently.
He
snorted and ate his meal in silence. He had to conduct his next lesson
by the time he finished eating his lunch. Severus forgot about the
black card, until the moment he undressed to take a bath. The soft
sound of something hitting the floor caught his attention and he looked
down at his feet. He blinked and the card floated up to him.
Severus opened it and read its
content.
I'll be waiting in the Great Hall.
He frowned slightly. It couldn't be...
However, he was sure whose handwriting it belonged to. Severus shrugged
and threw the card on his desk before stepping into his bathroom. As he
cleaned himself, he considered skipping dinner, but his stomach would
not agree to his plan. I
don't have to go to the Great Hall. Perhaps I shall call a house-elf to
serve dinner here.
So
while he got dressed, he summoned one of the helpers of the castle. To
his utter disbelief, the creature told him that every one was required
to eat in the Hall. It was not a surprise that he looked stormy when he
exited his quarters. In his anger, he had forgotten about the message
in the card. Therefore, when he entered the Great Hall, he was not
prepared to be greeted by the wizard with bright, emerald eyes.
"Good evening, Severus," a
soft, but rich voice greeted him.
He could only blink as he
stood before Harry Potter.
Harry tilted his head to one
side. He wore an amused smile. "Bad day?"
Severus did not answer -- he
could not answer.
"It's
Friday. I peeked into the staff room and the kitchen earlier, and I
know that they do not give the right atmosphere to make a meal
appetizing," Harry continued. "So I'm thinking that maybe you would
like to have dinner at Rosmerta's." The emerald-eyed wizard went
through the opened doors of the Great Hall. "So, what say you?"
Severus glanced over his
shoulder. His eyes narrowed when he found out that Dumbledore was not
in sight.
"Severus?"
"Very well," he said, and
followed Harry out of Hogwarts.
Half an hour later, Severus
and Harry were closeted in a private room
in the Three Broomsticks, and Severus had Harry pinned down on the
couch. "You told me that you will not be back until March, Harry," he
whispered as he stared deeply into bright, mirthful, green eyes.
"I couldn't wait until
Valentine's Day to surprise you, Severus," Harry murmured.
"And
how many times have I told you to practice patience?" Severus closed
his eyes and buried his face into Harry's hair. Blissful. That was how
he felt as Harry's hands wrapped around his waist and back.
"Countless," was Harry's
muffled reply. "Severus. I'm so glad I'm with you now."
He
took a deep breath and trembled slightly with pleasure, as he smelled
an orange scent coming from Harry's hair. Severus moved down slightly
and pressed his lips against Harry's neck. Then he moved down to kiss
his lover's collarbone. His heart pounded forcefully in his chest as he
tasted Harry.
"I'm so glad..." Harry
whispered again, and
Severus lifted his face. Harry's eyes were slightly glazed when he
looked into them. "Severus ... I miss you so much."
Severus
leaned forward and brushed his lips gently on Harry's mouth. Then he
kissed his lover deeply, passionately, and embraced Harry tightly.
"It's
just that I know that it's Valentine's Day whenever I see you," Harry
whispered into his mouth. "I know that I want to love you every day, to
make you feel loved every day."
He ran his fingers through
Harry's thick hair and kissed Harry's soft lips again. "Are you going
to leave me again?"
"No, Severus. Never."
"You sound so sure of
yourself."
"I am."
"Why?"
"Because I'll be the new DADA
professor."
Severus blinked. "What?"
"I
wrote to Dumbledore. I want to be where you are, Severus. I don't want
to be separated from you. I've grown fond of those conversations we
used to have while I was in my seventh year, and I want to relive those
moments again. I--" Severus had the feeling that Harry would go on and
on so he kissed Harry again. He rubbed his hands up and down Harry's
sides, hoping that it would at least make the younger man relax.
"Severus, I love you." Harry blurted.
Severus allowed himself a
small chuckle. "Yes, Harry. I know that." He caressed Harry's cheek. "I
love you too. You know that, don't you?"
"Yes, I do."
"I love you, Harry," Severus
repeated, and smiled when he found that the words did not sound so
alien anymore.
