This course in an introduction to theatre for the beginning student. Student will be introduced to the principles of interpretation, appreciation and production. Basic acting will be included in the study of improvisation, pantomime and mime, and voice and diction in addition to the theory and practice on Stanislavsky. Students will acquire an understanding of basic fundamentals for play production including stage settings, lighting, costuming, and make-up. Students are required to participate in regular set construction for the fall play as scheduled during regular class meetings.
Students are required to read and respond in writing to up to four plays as assigned by the instructor. The student is required to participate as an actor or as a member of a crew on a FHS play. The student is required to attend and respond in writing to (2) productions of plays and/or musicals outside FHS. The student is required to maintain and complete a portfolio that includes class notes and hand outs, written responses to plays and productions, as well as critiques of outside productions. |
