| Directing for the Stage | ||||||||
| Directing for the Stage is designed as an introduction for the theatre student to the craft of theatre directing. The student will develop basic skills to facilitate preparation of a text for the purpose of directing a theatrical expression. The course will culminate with the completion of a directing prompt script including elements such as basic scenic design, blocking and staging notes, character analysis, general dramaturgy, rehearsal schedules, as well as outside research. The course will provide limited opportunities for application of theory. Student directed work will be considered for inclusion in the Dance/Theatre Recital in May. Inclusion is solely at the discretion of the instructor. The student is required to read and respond to up to four plays as assigned by the instructor. The student is required to attend and respond in writing to two productions of plays and musicals in addition to participating in or attending the FHS musical. |
