Welcome
Youngstown State FAN!
Have
you had enough of the Robic era at YSU?
Well this site is putting out a call to Athletic
Director Ron Strollo to pull the plug on men’s basketball
coach, John Robic… The reasons are plentiful:
EVEN JIM TRESSEL MAKES MISTAKES
- Robic
inherited a program from Dan Peters in 1999, and with Peters
talent, Robic went a decent 31-25 for the 99-00 and 00-01
seasons…Once Peters's talent disappeared so did
victories…The Penguins have won 25 games since they lost in
an exciting game against Valpo at the end of the 00-01season.- Since
competing for a Mid-Con Conference title in 00-01, the most
memorable moment in Robic’s YSU file was the upset of a Kent
State team that advanced to the
elite eight during the 01-02 season.
|
Jim
Tressel's biggest error was hiring JR in 1999. |
- Robic
has managed to waste away talent, and take a program that was
on the up and up, to the gutter…Recruiting JUCO basketball
players that cannot compete at the D-I level.
- Robic
refuses to schedule good basketball teams…The 25 wins Robic
has achieved with his “talent” consists of D-II teams,
D-I teams that barely qualify
as D-I, and few league wins…
- Same
excuses in post-game press conferences, loss, after loss...for
example:
Thanks MatchboxOmatic!
"this league is so hard to win on the road" or we
always hear this one..."we had a great day
of practice coming off the loss"
- Robic
is 0-2 in Mid-Con tournament games, and is currently 1-4 in
Horizon League Tournament games.
- Thanks
Gary!... 10 players have left the program prior to
completing their eligibility..... 3 left without ever playing
a season, 6 left after 1 year and 1 after 2 years. Also Doug
Underwood was kicked off the team, so that is 11 players who
have failed to complete all 4 years and who will count against
YSU Grad Rates when their classes are due to graduate.
|
Not many
people can claim victory over Slippery Rock and Lock
Haven in the same year. |
- Thanks
Gary!...Has had eight different assistant coaches in his
six seasons at Youngstown State.
- Thanks
Gary!...25 straight non-conference road losses...last non
conference road win was Jan 2, 2001 at Robert Morris.
1-16 against D1 opponents
10 game losing streak
- Thanks aysufan!...these kids have to put up with ongoing emotional and verbal abuse on a daily basis. they are totally demoralized - no wonder they can't win a game.
They have come here as devoted basketball players, some with proven experience and success
JUCOs, some right out of high school, and now they can't wait until the season is over.
That's the saddest part of all. They have to endure listening to how bad they are and also personally deal with the coaching situation.

makes over $90,000 per year, we will be generous
to JR and say he makes an even 90k / year. Listed
