Metal Essentials
To get you off on the right path, I'm starting with a list of what I believe are the most essential albums in metal. As always, if you don't agree, tell me here or shut up. In No particular order:

Pantera- Vulgar Display of Power-
Walk, Hollow, This Love, FUCKING HOSTILE- this is one of the most aggressive, driving, anger riddled albums ever recorded. From beginning to end your ears are assaulted by raging guitar driven fury.
Guns & Roses- Appetite for Destruction-
If I have to explain this one to you, its best you just leave my website now and pop in your nearest Sting cd.
Savatage- Streets-
The finest album from the finest melodic prog band there is. One of the band's most famous song's, Believe, is on this album. The tear-jerking masterpiece, If I GO Away has my all time vote for saddest song EVER written. This album rips through all of your emotions in a whirl-wind of songs.
In Flames- Clayman-
Hardcore fans may prefer previous albums like Colony, but there is no denying that Clayman put this band on the world map. There is not a filler song on this album. Imagine my surprise when the song that first got me into this band, Only for the Weak, turned out to be one of the slowest!! This is THE difinitive album for Gothenburg Melodic death style music.
Skid Row- Slave to the Grind-
After their first album hit it huge, Skid Row went around claiming they were much heavier than presented on it. Ya'know sumthin'? They were right. From beginning to end, this album kicks your ass. Even the 3 ballads do not let you down.
Metallica- Ride the Lightning-
I really should not have to explain this either, except for the fact that fans may be immensely divided over which of the first 4 albums is actually the best. I contend that For Whom the Bell Tolls is the best song ever by this band. It is. YES, it is. Don't argue. The rest of the album is pretty darned good to......"I'm creeping deeeeaaathhh!!" (A moment of silence for the passing of the once mighty into the netherworld of utter crap.)
Judas Priest- Painkiller-
This album could make your head explode!! I always loved the Painkiller video- 5 kids in a car, no AC, in a traffic jam, in the summer. That is exactly the best time to crank this bitch up all the way to 11.
ACDC- Back in Black-
You know, I like Razor's Edge just as much as this album, but damn, isn't Back in Black nearly a perfect metal song?
Megadeth- Rust in Piece-
The absolute definition of a perfect thrash record. Once upon a time, this band took no prisoners, and that was evident in this masterpiece. Holy Wars is the best OPENING song I have EVER seen  in concert.
GWAR- Scumdogs of the Univers
e-What can i say about Scumdogs? MAGGOTS! MAGGOTS! Maggots are falling like rain!! Sick of You, Salamanizer, Slaughterama....It kicks ass...nuff said.
