Competitive Shooting Associations
Here is a short list of associations that sponser various competitions. You can meet other competitors and make your own practice a lot more fun than just punching holes in tin cans.

Cowboy Action Shooting is for those who like the Old West with its single action revolvers and lever-action rifles. The Single Action Shooting Society sponsers these friendly competitions nationwide.
The United States Practical Shooting Association offers cometition with more modern handguns, rifles, and shotguns. Matches can be found across the US. The USPSA also has a Juniors division to teach kids early how to shoot and compete safely and responsibly.
The International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) sponsers competitions designed for those interested in serious self-defense. Competitions are very fast-paced and all over the world.
Boar Hunter Magazine chronicles my latest shooting interest. Feral (wild) hogs can be hunted in South Carolina and several other southern states with very few restrictions on the season.
