Life Flight
History

Life Flight was established in 1979
The second helicopter was placed in service  in 1993 with the Medical College Hospitals.
St Vincent Medical Center, and Medical College Hospitals are both Level 1 Trauma Centers.


St Ritas Medical Center instituted Life Flight Program in Nov 1998 in cooperation with St. Vincents & Medical College Life Flight and is a Level 2 Trauma Center.
May 2002 a 4th aircraft was added and 2 more satelite bases established.

Statistics

Critical Care Transport Network present;y opperates 4 state-of-the-art air medical  helicopters  with 2 patient transport capabilities and 10 M.I.C.U.'s
Life Flight completed 2,192 flights in 2001
M.I.C.U.'S completed 2,949 transports in 2001
Transport Network service area is inclusive of Northwest Ohio, michigan, and Indiana. Availability of Aircraft- All aircraft are available 24hrs a day with 1 based at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, 1 based at Fulton County Airport, 1 based at Sandusky County Regional Airport, and 1 based at the Blufton Airport.

Goals

The Primary Goal of Life Flight is to provide and maintain a high level of care to crotically ill and injured patients, and to provide rapid transport of this patient to a tertiary care facility.
