"The Turning Of The Season"

I walked through bitter darkness and the winters cold ice held
like hands upon a trembling heart within the ice was shelled.
Captured in a moment of time with no escape
the love within was frozen and the void had taken shape.

Alone were all my feelings for no one could extract
what cried to be forgiven and the ice refused to crack.
For many had been given a chance to melt the snow
alone I walk in silence and the season did not show.

All hope had been extinguished for the cold had settled hard
upon my heart to hold it there like glass the ice was shard.
A prisoner of the season it held it oh so tight
I pounded on the icy walls I struck with all my might.

To no avail I struggled my heart encased so well
to live my life forever in this cold and icy shell.
But off on the horizon a shimmering of light
the warmth was flooding to me to release me from my plight.

A ray of sudden summer shines on the icy walls
to melt the shiny crystals so from my heart to fall.
You are the light of summer a season now has gone
my heart can feel the sunrise you are the break of dawn.

My heart is warm and glowing from the love that you extol
to fill the void within me and plug this gaping hole.
Although we're just beginning my love grows ever strong
to be with you forever to make our season long.

It's the turning of the season
it's what you are to me
you broke me from the icy doom
to set my heart, my love free.
