Grunwald Finally Pulls Trigger

It's no surprise to anyone that Glen Grunwald, our beloved GM, for our team, traded away Antonio Davis.  Yes I know the imminent trade was working its way through the rumor mill weeks before it actually occurred, and anyone who paid any remote attention to this team, knew it was coming. However I will admit that I am surprised that Grunwald actually had the nerve to pull the trigger on this deal.  I can only imagine how much pressure Davis' agent was placing on him and the team to get him out. Let's not forget, that Davis never wanted to play in Toronto, and that he did so, only because the Raptors offered him the most money a few years back.  If you recall his pride was initially hurt by the Bulls organization during their initial free agent negotiations.  Poor baby, well Mr. and Mrs. Davis, Merry Christmas, love the relieved fans of TO. The least AD could have done is tell the organization and fans that he retired.

Before I go any further I would first like to say:  JYD, thank you.  Thank you for your effort night  in and night out, but most of all, thank you for being a true professional, and  an all round decent person in the Toronto community.  You will be missed.

So now the big question on everyone's mind is, who got the better of the deal.  I ask, does it really matter?  Essentially this was a trade that had to be made by two clubs who  were not going to accomplish anything with

their current rosters.   Interestingly enough, neither team will still

accomplish anything with their new  look team.

Toronto ridded itself of one problem, but inherited several new ones.  We all know them, he lack of height and the lack of an interior presence are the obvious ones.  The greater problem facing the Raptors now is, what will they do with Chris Bosh.  At 19, this child can not be expected to shoulder the responsibility of solidifying this team's middle.  Vince Carter, playing like the Air Carter of old, now has even less protection when going to the basket.  For all his distractions, and terrible behind the back passes, Charles Oakley protected Vince, and we once again need that type of protection for our star.

It is because of these reasons, that  I believe GM GG is not finished

pulling the trade trigger.  Portland is a   team looking to make a change

and with Zach Randolph emerging as a presence in the middle for that team, I believe that Rasheed Wallace is available.  Now before everyone instantly grows gray hair and call me every name in the book, please allow me to appease your concerns.  No player in the NBA is an angel.  We thought we had one of those and he's only up on rape charges.  Innocent or not, these bad boys of sport, all have skeletons.  Wallace is no different.  However he is 6'11" and a force on the inside.  He has decent range on his jump shot and in the East, with a new found focus, Wallace could easily emerge as the best low post player.  Having that, would make Toronto as likely to win the east as any of the other teams. So who do we give up?  Simple, the man we just acquired.  I know I'm not listening in on Grunwald's phone conversations, but if he is not on the phone looking to make this type of a deal, he should resign, because he obviously does not know how to do his job.

Oh wait, that's the reason we're writing to you from this web page.  We doubt that  Grunwald is looking at any other possibilities at improving

Their team.   However, for Bosh's sake, for Vince's sake, and most

importantly for the fans, we hope that we are wrong....only time will tell...

Thank You
