Rebuilding...
The Collection.

After the house fire in March of 2001 my bonsai collection of over 15 trees suffered either immediate devastation or subsequent neglect in the months that followed. The Spring time is a crucial period for many bonsai specimens and during the Spring and Summer of 2001 I practically lost my entire collection. During the two years that I lived in WV the remainder of the collection eventually died too.

Over the past year or so I have began the rebuilding process. As of this time my collection is at 6. One of these six is the only survivor of the my original collection.

Soon I will post photos of these specimens and some detail on the training they are undergoing to someday become true bonsai trees. Stay tuned!

Potomac Bonsai Association Show
Every Spring the Potomac Bonsai Association hosts a Show and sale at the National Arboretum in Washington DC. Usually this is an annual mecca for me but I missed two years while living in WV. This year I was able to attend.

I originally planned on taking a lot of photos and posting them here but when I arrived I was a bit disappointed in the vendor selections. There was not a great deal of selection when it came to trees so I focused my attention to selecting one tree (which is not an easy task for me). I spent a great deal of time narrowing my chioces down to one from several. I also purchased some new tools.

I did visit the exhibit briefly and chat with some of the Association members. I also took a few photos of the trees that I thought were exceptional. The folks I spoke to also agreed that the selections outside in the vending area were less than excellent. Well, maybe next year.
