Letdown

I am not the one you thought I was
Your vision leapt ahead of us
And the values that put you at home
They are not the ones I call my own

You cherish dreams inside your heart
But in those plans I have no part
There are many women out there who
Can fulfill your dreams as I can't do

You hold me, and wait
And anticipate
But I hesitate
In the same old stagnant state

So forgive me to disrupt your plans
And take a choice out of your hands
But better your heart broken now
Than a lifetime constantly let down

You never really got to know
The face of me you ought to know
And I fear a future that's been sown
Where I'm loved in flesh; at heart alone

Still you hold me, and wait
And anticipate
But I hesitate
It's the same, old mistake

There's no way to do this easily
I hope you'll make your peace with me
And what romance didn't, friendship does
To edify our love, because
I am not the one you thought I was
