Image of You

You made me alive.
Into my body you breathed my soul.
You put my spirit into my mind,
And you opened my eyes.

You nourished me with food,
You gave me shelter from the cold;
Taught me so many good things to do
As an image of you.

Yes, you're the shepherd of my life.
You're the father I look to,
While I live as an image of you.

And here in this place
You are the source of all wisdom.
While the whole earth flies through space,
You know each member of the human race.

You see our dreams and all our cares
From your throne up in your kingdom;
More than even we're aware
In our own hearts what is there,

And you bestow on us your Grace
When we call on you in prayers.
It's your gift to us, the image of you.

My father, my brother;
How can you be both in one?
And to also be my lover;
Mystery upon another.

You're the Father almighty,
Brave and humble as the Son,
And the Spirit always with me
In the trinity all-Holy,

With your glory undercover.
Oh Lord, please grant me to see
Every heart as an image of you.

Your open arms extend
To every little one around.
Your pure heart befriends
Those whom earthly powers send

To the shadows in the streets,
Forced to crawl upon the ground;
For all who fall down at your feet
You have never failed to greet

With a love that never ends!
Lord, the goal I want to meet
Is to love as an image of you.
