From All Directions

I stand with ears wide open,
From all directions, I hear the call,
And as the world spins round around me,
It makes me wonder, if it's real, at all.

Looking back across my life
I see little to remark upon.
I brushed my teeth near every night,
Got up with every dawn.

A life filled up with empty actions
Is easy to forget,
And now I'm sinking down inside my mind,
Stopping only to regret.

And I wait with ears wide open,
And I listen for a call,
And when it comes from all directions,
It makes me wonder, if it's real, at all.

It all becomes a memory
Of time I would erase,
And barely even caring,
I sink away from Grace.

And the passing days slide through me
Like the words of my old favorite song.
I'm the winter, never knowing:
Will the summer be along?

And I stand with eyes wide open
And I bow inside the hall
And I keep my ears wide open
As I kneel before the wall
For I'm waiting, mind wide open;
Mind begging to hear the call
And when it comes from all directions
Down to the ground I fall
And frustration roils inside me
And I cease, to believe, it's real at all.
