Beach Cadence
I fell asleep I dropped the pen My shirt is stained I dropped the pen At some calm beach I dropped the pen I missed the voice I dropped the pen I missed the call I dropped the sword The mystical Creator's word For twenty years I dropped the sword I hear a bell I dropped the sword My body strong I dropped the sand My reason true I dropped the sand These idle feats I dropped the sand I held the sun! I dropped the sand! Recoiling as I understand These islands slipping off my hand I'd flee but newborns cannot stand And now upon me sinks a cloud And squirming, swaddled in this shroud I suffocate and cry aloud The twenty years I've been endowed Have spiraled to the sandy floor Eroding into water pure I lost my sand; I lost my sword If only Will and Faith endured As Power's power did not end. You'll never hear of me again I left no poem I dropped the pen |
