Horsebarn Hill

Horsebarn Hill looks inviting today,
The sunlight is beckoning me on.
But I must get things done; I must be on my way
Before the entire day's gone.

Now no one's around, not a sole watching eye
And as happens when I am alone
My arms become wings and I can't help but fly
Up the side of this great weedy dome

And the wind's in my hair and I feel the sun's glow;
I stare out at the earth for awhile.
In an hour I leave there with nothing to show
Except for a poem and a smile.
