The Presleys 2007

2007 brought about some significant changes for the family. For starters, all three of our kids are students in the South Panola School District: Javon is a sixth grader at Batesville Junior High School, Ciera (the South Panola Veteran) is a second grader at Batesville Intermediate School, and Jensen started his first year of school as a pre-schooler at Batesville Elementary. Ciera and Jensen are having a great time learning. Javon... he's having a great time being a ladies' man at school (too much of a great time sometimes). Also, the kids and my wife enjoyed playing soccer in the Batesville City League. Chelesa was a coach for one of the soccer teams in the league. One surprise is that Ciera actually seems to have some great potential as a soccer player! Javon also crossed over from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts in May. He is now a member of Boy Scout Troop 478 of Batesville.

The most significant change besides all of our kids going to school is that I left Delta Wire Corporation after working there for nine years. I found a job in Batesville as a Quality Manager at Plaspros Inc., a plastics injection molding company. This is a nice place to work, plus I'm much closer to home (but not close enough to go home for lunch - I still have to travel 15 miles between home and work). Chelesa still works for Delta Health Partners as an Outreach Recruiter.

Taken at our home in Panola County Our family has gone through a lot of changes in a short time. We want to say a very big Thank You for everyone who has helped us out this year. We've had some serious bumps in the road this year, but by the grace of God and our extended family and friends, we were able to roll over them. I can't say "Thank You" enough to my Mom and Dad for all of their help and support.

If there's anything I'll remember about 2007, it's the money my kids made from selling pecans. Javon really worked hard to pick and bag all of the pecans and sell them. I don't know how much money the kids made, but I know they sold a truckload's worth of pecans! I'll also remember going to more football games in 2007 than I've ever had. Two of the football games we went to were to see my cousin Kendrick Presley, who was the starting quarterback for the Kosciusko Whippets. The Whippets are the North Mississippi 4-A State Runner-ups. Congratulations! Also, congratulations to the South Panola Tigers for winning their fifth consecutive 5-A State Championship. I also want to send a shout-out to George County High, the 5-A State Runner-ups, who played and stayed tough until the end. And finally, congratulations goes out to my Mississippi State University Bulldogs and Coach Sylvester Croom for winning the Liberty Bowl!

One last thing...Congratulations to my Mom, Dr. Vivian M. Presley, for being chosen as the 2007 Citizen of the Year in Clarksdale!
