COPPER  FOULING  SOLUTION

HOW DO I KNOW I HAVE COPPER FOULING:

**  The only rifle that I own that has a problem with copper fouling is my British Enfield

No1 MK III* .303 British.   So less than 15% of my inventory has a problem with copper.

MAKE SURE FIREARM IS UNLOADED

The Fine Print

DISCLAIMER:  I have used this method with great results.   As a test we used 100 percent sudsey ammonia and let different types of metal sit in a bath for over a day without any problems.  Ammonia is a corrosive / Alkaline substance Use CAUTION. Use gloves and ventalation.  I make no gurantees on the safety and use of the information below.

Insert a cotton ball about an inch into the muzzle.  Use a flashlight to check

the bore.  If a copper or golden color is present on the landings then follow

    the method below to clean.

Follow Regular Cleaning:

        My Method:

BLACK POWDER & CORROSIVE AMMO (Extra Step)

HOT, HOT, HOT SOAPY WATER as soon as you get home.

                Then follow:

            REGULAR CLEANING:

Clean using the instructions/solution ED's RED

Run a patch through using 80% water/ 20% sudsy Ammonia

Do not let sit for more than 4 mins.  Run a dry white patch through.

Check patch for Bluish color.  This indicates presence of copper.

repeat with brush, then dry patch, then wet patch until blue

color is gone and the bore does not have any more golden

color on the landings.  ONCE you finish with the Ammonia

use ED's RED (or Hoppes, shooters choice, etc.) to clean one more time.  Gets

out the Ammonia residue.  Then finish up with your favorite

lubricant.   ( I use FP-10 from Shooters Choice). SHOOTER'S CHOICE-- GUN CARE PRODUCTS

This has MT-10 additive MT-10 Metal Treatment

REMEMBER use adequate ventilation.  Do not Smoke.   Follow all Firearm Safety.

If you store this solution you must label the container.
