It’s been 3.30 AM as you arrive at the crimescene.Your partner,Alex Paul,comes out of the huge villa to welcome you but mainly to inform you about the things he has already found inside the house.You follow him inside through the two major wooden doors and the first thing you see is a body on the floor,covered in blood.A pathologist comes up to you,discussing the little details.He has found out that the Brit Peter Jameson had been killed by three stabs,two of them right into the heart,another one hitting his lungs.Death was the result of the combination of the different injuries.After the pathologist’s information,Alex pulls you towards another part of the room until you stand right in front of a wall.With neat letters there’s written “Mame,I just killed the man.”You turn towards Alex again and he can tell you that the message has been written with Peter’s blood.
At that moment a policeman gives you a small pat on the back,which makes you turn around.He hands you a plastic bag.You eye the sealed bag with suspicion and recognize a postcard with some pretty Swedish landscapes on it.You turn the card around and find the message :
Dear Mum,
I miss you but luckily I will come home soon.
Love,you son
You raise an eyebrow and realize that the person who wrote messages must be righthanded.You stuff the evidence in the pocket of your coat and continue your search through the house.Suddenly you trip over something and after calming your heartbeat a little you notice it’s an empty bottle of beer.You call one of the agents over to tell him to take it with him as evidence.Just as you hope you can go on with your search again Alex appears with the man who has found the corpse,the landlord of the house.In a small conversation you find out that the house had been rented for a week by a popband named Five and their friend Peter.The man is pretty much sure that nobody else has entered the house in that week and you make a note that the killer is probably one of the five.He can also give you some useful information,namely that someone drove off in the middle of the night in a sportscar.According to the time it must have been right after the killing and you can only make the conclusion that it’s the hiding killer…
The next day you sit at your desk and keep pondering over that one question :
