Rich.
I admit I was really nervous driving to the site in our tourbus and biting my nails. It was obviously annoying J, but he surprisingly didn’t say a word about it. I hope he felt bad abut stealing my text. I know it sounds childish, but after all it was my text.
The atmosphere was odd. Usually we’d talk and tease around in our bus, but we were all quite depressed, like the bad news was a shadow upon us.
Maybe I should have considered becoming an author.
The constructor’s site at Ammil road was like all others, muddy, dirty and strangely sad, with everywhere leftover materials and tools, left behind by workers. We were exploring around as no one seemed to be there. Eventually we sat down and waited.
We waited for a good hour until the girl appeared, followed by a few grimlooking men, and the hope we could master them, even with those policemen hiding aound us, was gone. Maybe I should descibe her. She was of average length, had brownish hair and eyes-the kinda girl you can see eveywhere. She never told us her name, but in thoughts i started to call her Kate. A lot of girls I know looking like her are named Kate. But she hadn’t this friendly look these type of girls usually have. He features were sharp and her eyes steely. She held five necklaces in her hand. “I want you all to wear these, “she told us in her raspy voice. “And here’s your new assignment. Just be nice and fulfill everything we tell you to. Then you might see that idiot back.”
They were gone fast, and we heard them flying away in a jet so there was no way we could follow them. We all hung the amulets about our necks and I noticed they had difficult locks, what I suppose was exactly the meaning and we couldn’t open them, only J found out how it worked in a couple of days. That wasn’t surprising, because J’s one of the most intelligent people I know. Intelligent, but bad-tempered, of course.
I’m sorry J, but you are. It’s nothing to be ashamed of.
Abs.
The short note read:”Buy five tickets to moscow,Russia. Go to the ed Square and wait fo further instuctions.”
I have to say I thought it all was a bit, no, REALLY strange. I mean, why not instruct us immediately where to go and give ransom or something instead of pointing us in all different directions. But anyway, we bought the tickets and the next morning we flew. Otherwise it had been such waste, isn’t it? But it doesn’t really matter.
I know I talk too much. That’s just the way I am, and hey this wasn’t my idea so don’t complain to me.
Scott was next to me when we got off the plane. He ducked away in his coat as much as possible. “Chilly, huh?” he said to me. I nodded. “Yeah, but ya know, I’m curious if Rob’s really here or if we get send around more.”
He shrugged. “It’s odd, yes. Maybe even more suprising we obey a freak.”
“Do we have a choice?”
“Not really huh?”
“No. So stop complaining. We do want Rob back, don’t we?”
“I’m still discussing that personally as a matter of fact.”
I gave up. Sometimes you just can’t talk to the guy. We were being cold at the Red Square for an hour, again, until she appeared. I somehow suspect they were around the whole time.
She didn’t speak a word, this time. In silence “Kate” handed us over one of those little scribbled papers and left.
