This web page was created by Ed Hass of Elk Grove, CA. This web page has NO connection, official or unofficial, with the MVPA! We are not trying to deceive ANYONE into believing that we represent the MVPA in ANY way! The sole purpose of this web page is to show photos of antique fire engines, that were taken by our friend Ralph Leidy of San Jose, CA, during the MVPA's convention in Alameda (near Oakland), CA, on July 26, 2003.

circa-1935 hose wagon of Meadow Vista, in Placer County, CA, is probably on a Dodge chassis, or possibly a Reo.

Brush Pumper 41 of Smartville (near Grass Valley, in Yuba County), CA.

American-LaFrance built 110 of these odd-looking "JO" and "JOX" aerial ladder trucks between 1938 and 1946: 100 in its main factory at Elmira, NY, and 10 in its Canadian factory at Toronto, Ontario. This one was designated Model M-575-JOX, indicating that it was on a two-wheel cab-forward chassis, powered by a 190-horsepower V-12 "Model J" gasoline motor, had an open cab (the O in JOX) and open ladder racks (the X in JOX, indicating no side sheet-metal over the ladder body), and a 75-foot all-metal aerial ladder (the 75 in model M-575). Serial number L-1992 (the L indicating an L cylinder head configuration) was delivered on April 7, 1944, and served at the U.S. Navy Yard on Treasure Island, in San Francisco, CA.
