Take up the cross and follow me,
is found in Mark 10:21, look there and see.

Take up our cross and follow His lead,
no knowing where or how far we'll proceed.

We have no say in what our cross will be,
but we can determine to carry it honorably.

There is so much over which we have no control,
but we can know in our heart our surrender is whole.

We may not know the reasons for our plight,
but we can make certain we keep Jesus in our sight.

I never again will carry a burden alone,
the truth of this the Holy Word has shown.

It is not my strength on which I stand,
God provided for this in His Great Master Plan.

Take up the cross and come walk with the Master,
the work will be completed and we'll get home faster.
