Not My Will
by Barbara Philbrook

Not my will but Thine is what I ask today,
as I kneel down before Thee to pray.
Not for what would put a smile on my face,
not for who should fill the empty place.

Not for who or what I dare ask,
not so I accomplish some appointed task.
Not so there won't be tears streaming down,
not so my countenance won't resemble a frown.

Not for me or those I love most,
not even Father for the Heavenly Host.
But Thy will is what I seek as I pray,
because I trust Your will is perfect in every way.
