Intellectual disputes don't always end with one person the winner,
they can at times define each participant as a sinner.

It is very difficult to argue and keep one's cool,
and sad to see adults acting as children in school.

We all like the feeling of being right,
and oft when we are corrected unconsciously prepare to fight.

At that point the words said can become quite offensive,
and we of course then become very defensive.

It is our nature for some of these reactions to take place,
and once begun are often quickly out of place.

No one meant to displease or offend their sister or brother,
but quite often we become over sensitive to each other.

Perhaps if we prayed before entering to converse,
we could contribute our thoughts without things getting worse.

I don't pretend or assume to know the answer to it all,
but I do know our heavenly Father hears me each time I call.

Knowledge is a gift given by God,
not to invite His participation seems very odd.
