I've been forgiven by God now for awhile,
but that I needed to forgive myself, I was in denial.

I was covered by the blood of Jesus once I accepted salvation,
but that I must forgive myself was a revelation.

A loving friend showed this amazing truth to me,
in deep gratitude to him I shall forever be.

Forgiving yourself for what you ask,
well for starts it can be an unknown task.

I was in the dark when his message I began to read,
but God opened my heart and I recognized my need.

I went to my room and cried out to God,
and the experience we shared was both awesome and odd.

I invited the Holy Spirit to accompany me to my past,
offered forgiveness and now feel free at last.

I'm not sure if everyone has this need,
but if you ache inside, that you'll give it a try is what I plead.

If you have a hollow spot deep within,
ask God to help you forgive yourself so your new life can begin.

I am forgiven by both my God and me,
and now I am whole and can become all I was meant to be.
