But if you are wondering why I decided to maintain a web page on this subject (Africa), here is a couple of hints. I believed that I do own a lot to my continent. I can loudly say that I am prude to be an African (Senegalese). I will, and would always represent an African woman. We all know that Africa is one of the poorest countries in the world but that doesn't mean that it has no type of civilization, as many tend to believe. Often I get the most ignorant questions ask to me about our continent, that I don't event know where or how to start answering it. It is one thing when the person doesn't know and want to arouse his/her curiosity, but is something else when the person is just proving arrogance and lock of discipline. Some will tell you that they know that you are from Africa, and that, this is what Africans do, and therefore do you also do it. For example do we drive cars, do we live on trees, how is light provided to us, do we chase lions, and so on? Funny isn't it? There are many sources that provide information on your questions. It is intolerable to say I just don't know; especially if you are black. It should be your business to know where you originated, why you look like this. You probably don't care anyways, and That is sad. Everyone is not on the same level of course. I have meet some young people that impressed me, and they never been to Africa. Just some incite! We live very close to the standard western which you consider civilization; only that we have our own civilization. We may not have the loudgery where all African live comfortably but the majority do. Just like any other country, there is the rich and the poor. We are attached to our cultural belief; that is passed on from generation to generation; taken with us everywhere we go around the world. We humbly accept who we are, but that doesn't mean that we don't know better. To my concern I believe that we in our own land live better than most people. I would like you to ask your self this question before you ask any African any question you may be thinking of. DO YOU KNOW ANY COUNTRY (NOT PLACE, OUR SMALL GROUPS OF PEOPLE LIKE THE AMAZONES! THEY EVEN HAS HUTS) WHERE PEOPLE SLEEP ON TREES OUR CHASE LIONS? If in fact you can came up with the country and prove that it is true then you may ask your questions.
