SACRED WRITINGS

OGHAM

Ogham script is an early form of Celtic writing that is found in Ireland and Scotland. Dating from at least the first century BC, the script is found today only on stone monuments. Usually used to mark graves,It is widely believed that the Druids would also use this alphabet on wood or other perishable materials for the purpose of spells and curses.

The writing was designed to be written on the edges of stone, wood and possibly leather or wax. Since few people in the ancient world could write, written spells held a special power. The cipher consists of a series of lines or dots marked into the edge of the writing surface.

RUNES

A second form of sacred writing is the Scandanvian runes. This form of writing, more than the ogham script, was designed to be used in the practice of magik.
