IN FINLAND 1941 - 1942

.

German naval forces in Finland needed also working radio connections. For that a motorized Marine-Nachrichten-Kompanie 104 (Oberleutnant Kullmann) was moved to Finland already on 9.6.1941. Company consisted of staff platoon (St.Zug, strength 51 men of which 33 car drivers) and two radio platoons which were positioned at Helsinki (I Na.Zug) and at Turku (II Na.Zug). Total strength was 3 officers, 14 radio NCOs, 21 NCOs, 155 men = 193 men.

Company had:
- a total of 28 vehicles
- two French-made radio trucks with 200 Watt short-wave and 500 Watt long-wave radios
- three French-made radio trucks with 40 Watt radio
- two movable 40 Watt radios
- four teleprinters with their equipment
- lots of field telephone and other signal equipment

Company was in full readiness in the evening of 19.6.1941 but mainly French-made equipment didn't work well and reception was very bad most of the time. After the start of Barbarossa company stayed in Finland until 1942 and became later 3. Kompanie / 1. Marine-Nachrichten-Abteilung (mot.) in Western France.
