NAVAL RANKS |
Great Britain - Finland - Germany |
.
Below are
the equivalent Naval ranks of Finland, Great Britain and
Germany used during WW II. Naval ranks differed a lot
from the Army ranks. Note that those coastal defence
troops in Finland which belonged to Naval Forces used
ordinary Army ranks. On Finnish Military
Pages German ranks have been written in
German while Finnish ranks have been translated into
English and usually written in shortened form according
to this table. So English abbreviations used here are not
the official ones. Finnish ranks Komentaja and Komentajakapteeni
are the same rank Commander (Cmd.) in English.
All ranks of Erikoismestari I - IV lk. (I - IV
Class) have been translated as Chief Warrant Officers
(CWO).
