Coastal Artillery Regiment 2
was a separate coastal artillery unit which was responsible of the coastal defence of western Karelian Isthmus. It was operationally subordinated to Kannas Group and later in 1944 to IV Army Corps. On 18.6.1944 regiment was taken into the direct command of Naval Forces Staff.

In June 1944 RTR 2 had to withdraw gradually from Koivisto area in extremely difficult conditions fighting fast advancing Soviets troops on land and sea. Finnish and German naval units managed to evaquate the troops from the mainland and islands under hard Soviet aerial attacks. Smaller detachments together with the units from Cavalry Brigade withdrew through the islands delaying Soviet troops effectively until new arriving units would be combat ready on the northern shore of Bay of Viborg.

During the retreat regiment had to abandon most of its heavy equipment and weapons. On 23.6.1944 heavily suffered regiment was re-organized as Coastal Regiment 2 (Rannikkorykmentti 2, RR 2) and strengthened with new units. On 13.7.1944 it was attached to 1st Coastal Division.

* 75/50 M is a variation of 75 mm Canet gun (75/50 C) with a Meller mount limitedly capable even for anti-aircraft fire.

In mid June 1944 eight 75/50 C and three 152/45 C guns were moved from Lake Onega Coastal Brigade. The latter ones were located at Ulko-Tammio (+2) and Mustamaa (+1) coastal batteries to strengthen these to full four gun units.
