Finneytown Boosters Association Meeting Minutes January 7, 2007

Present: Debi Diehl, Laura Szempruch, Lori Viola, Chuck Grosser, Dan Howett, Steve Linder, Eric Muchmore, Ann Auffrey (scribe).

Excused: Dan Dennis, Bob Mayer, Wes Girdler, Karen Hesse, Allyson Stacey, Lois Siegle.

I. The meeting was called to order by President Debi Diehl at 7:04 pm.

II. Minutes from the December Board meeting were reviewed. A motion was made by Lori Viola to approve the minutes, seconded by Laura Szempruch.

III. Athletic Department Report: Chuck Grosser reported about progress with a new trophy case for the gym lobby. A friend came to school on 12/20/06 to give an estimate and write up details for a new case. Glass would cost about $1400. Discussion took place about going to our membership base to see if any wood or glass could be donated or bought with a discount. Another idea was to see if Jim Stegman’s Eagle Scout troop might be willing to build a case. Spring/summer is a good time to build and install a new case because there is little activity in the gym.

Interview for a new Head Golf Coach is to take place on 2/8. Interview for Women’s Tennis Coach will also take place in a few weeks.

Senior Nights for Winter Sports: 2/1: Home Wrestling Match 2/7: Men’s Basketball, Swim Team, Cheer, Dance 2/8: Women’s Basketball

Portable goals for Cook Field are coming at the end of January. Another set of bleachers for spring.

IV.

Treasury Report: Laura Szempruch report for Treasurer Lois Siegle that we brought in about $500-600 in concessions for the last two Women’s Basketball games.

Membership Report: Nothing new to report this month.

VI. Old Business:

• 300 Club: Ten tickets have been sold. We need 140 tickets to be sold. Discussion took place about this being a difficult time of year to sell tickets for $100 with people having a lot of expenses from the holiday season, and

• generally people are feeling “tapped out.” Discussed pushing this for the fall or this spring; possibly selling tickets for $50.
• Chevis Jackson plaque: Ann reported she discussed some ideas with Coach Brossart about putting a plaque in the football locker room. Ann will begin looking for plaque.

• Boosters Bash: The prices have gone up at The Grove since our last event. The date will be Saturday, March 17. Tickets will be $25, which includes coffee, pop, beer, set-up, clean-up for 4 hours. Time will be from 7-12 midnight. Need to check about price adjustment for 5 hours.

• Den T-Shirts: The tie-dye t-shirts that weren’t supposed to “bleed” did bleed. Dan Dennis is offering several options to people who had pre-paid orders: getting money refunded, buying a solid color shirt, waiting until next fall for a new shirt.

VII. New Business

• Finneytown Wrestling Invitational will take place on Saturday, 1/27/07. This is the Dave Bean Classic, and Dave will be recognized. The event takes place from 10 am to about 6-7 pm. We need 2 volunteers per 2 hour shift in the concession stand. Laura will open and close the concession stand. Ann will send out an e-mail to schedule volunteers for the day.

VIII. The meeting adjourned at 7:50 pm. The next meeting of the Finneytown Boosters Association will take place on Sunday, February 11, 2007. This is rescheduled because the Super Bowl is on our usual meeting day. Time will probably be at 6:00 pm.
