Finneytown Boosters Association Board Meeting Minutes December 3, 2006

Present: Laura Szempruch, Lois Siegle, Chuck Grosser, Lori Viola, Bob Mayer, Jason Gardner, Steve Linder, Karen Hesse, Ann Auffrey (scribe). Special Guest: Rosie Korman

Excused Absence: Dan Howett, Dan Dennis, Debi Diehl, Wes Girdler.

I. The meeting was called to order by Vice President Laura Szempruch at 7:02 pm.

II. Special guest Rosie Korman, a member of the Finneytown High School Swim & Dive Team, thanked the Boosters for support and the donation towards the team’s t-shirts, equipment, caps, etc. Rosie reported that the Swim & Dive Team has grown from 3 swimmers three years ago to about 15 swimmers now.

III. Minutes from the November Board meeting were reviewed. A motion was made by Bob Mayer to approve the minutes, seconded by Steve Linder.

IV.Athletic Department Report: Chuck Grosser reported that the winter season is underway. The Wrestling Team had a scrimmage at Northwest High School and the Middle School at New Richmond. The Dance Team and Cheerleaders are up, and the Swim & Dive Team will be starting soon.

Dimensions for a new trophy case are to be drawn up, and Chuck will have them in a couple of weeks. It will cost about $1400 for the glass to enclose the case.

We need two more portable goals for Cook Field, as well as a new set of bleachers for spring. We are replacing the record boards in the gym. We have six banners up, and three more to do. Cost is $385/banner. Laura volunteered to check on the price of banners at a local company.

Jim Dickerson, Head Golf Coach and Mary Rudolph, Head Women’s Tennis Coach, have both resigned, and Chuck is looking for new coaches.

V. Treasury Report: Lois Siegle presented the Treasury Report. We brought in about $200-$300 for both Women’s Basketball games recently. We have only sold a few tickets for the 300 Club, and need to sell more tickets. One hundred fifty tickets must be sold by the end of January for our first drawing.

VI. Membership: Lori Viola reported that the Membership report is unchanged from last month.

VII. Old Business

• 300 Club: As stated above.

• Concession Stand Expansion: Wes reported that Larry Pyle game him a drawing. We need to decide what we want to do inside the stand. We need a detailed drawing for the inside, the cost of appliances, etc. and have a committee meeting to decide what we want, have Larry Pyle draw it, and go out and start pricing items.

• Chevis Jackson plaque: Ann will meet with Coach Brossart this week to talk about doing a plaque to be placed in the locker room.

• Trophy Cases: As stated above.

• Concession Stand Water Heater: Dan Howett had e-mailed information he had gotten to some Board members.

VIII. New Business

• Grant Requests:

• I. Bob Mayer presented a grant request on behalf of After Prom. They are expecting more students to attend each year, and have requested an increase in donations from their supporters. Bob requested an increase in the donation from Boosters from $500 to $600. Laura Szempruch made the motion to donate $600 to After Prom, seconded by Steve Linder. The motion passed.
• II. In-Line Skating Team: Bob presented a grant request that was submitted by Tony Elliott. The Boosters have supported this team for the past six years. The team has league fees, insurance and fees for practice time. The team is requesting support of $1000. Lori Viola made the motion to donate $1000, seconded by Ann Auffrey. The motion passed.
• Booster Briefs: Discussion was held about whether to do a new issue of the Booster Briefs. It was decided to wait at this time and plan the issue, rather than to try to get an issue out in a hurry.

• Boosters March Madness Event: The first rounds will be the Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday of March where Saturday night falls on March 17, St. Patrick’s Day. There was some discussion as to whether this would be a good night to have it. The following Saturday is March 24. Lori volunteered to call The Grove to get costs and reserve the date. Lois Siegle stated that Gary might be able to build cornhole sets.

IX. Adjournment: Our meeting in February is scheduled on the same night as the Super Bowl. We need to change the meeting to the following Sunday. Ann will do this. The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 pm.

Our next Boosters Board meeting will take place on Sunday, January 07, 2007, at 7

pm in the Senior Center.

The next meeting of the Finneytown Boosters Association will take place on Sunday, December 3, 2006, at 7 pm in the Springfield Township Senior Center.
