Present: Laura Szempruch, Beth Mizelle, Karen Hesse, Dan Howett, Patty Vogt, Lori Viola, Julie Hammons, Steve Linder, Chuck Grosser, Ann Auffrey (scribe).

Excused Absence: Lois Siegle, Bob Mayer.

I. The meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m. by President Laura Szempruch.

II. The minutes from the December Board meeting were read. A motion was made to approve the minutes by Lori Viola, seconded by Dan Howett.

III.Treasurer’s Report: The report was distributed. Laura reported for Lois. Lois has been looking into Certificates of Deposit. Currently US Bank has the highest rate of 4.18%. However, we must have a State ID number. This is not the same as our tax ID number. We don’t have a number listed with the state. Could Steve ask our accountant about getting a small business number? It costs $25/year. A motion was made by Dan Howett, seconded by Patty Vogt, that the Boosters get a State ID number.

IV.Athletic Director Report: Chuck Grosser reported the following:

• We’re about halfway through the winter sports season.
• Swimming is to start this weekend.
• The Women’s Basketball team has won three of their last four games.
• Finneytown hosts a wrestling meet a week from this Thursday. There will probably be two schools. Could we open concessions?
• The Dave Bean Wrestling Invitational is Saturday, January 26. Doors open about 7 am, the event begins at 10 am, and will probably end around 6-7 pm. There will be 12 schools attending.
• Senior Night for Women’s Basketball will be January 29.
• Senior Night for Men’s Basketball, Cheerleading, Dance Team, Swimming and Wrestling will be on February 8 or 9.
• FAA Cheerleaders have been invited to perform at the next two Women’s Basketball games.
• FHS Cheerleaders will cheer at the Women’s Basketball game against Deer Park on 1/22/08. The Pep Band will also be there.
• Cook Field will probably not be done until early spring due to the weather. The pit needs to dry up.
• We’ll get two estimates this week to get the tennis courts resurfaced and an irrigation system.
• Coach Openings: Reserve softball; Middle School Boys Track; Head Golf and staff; Reserve Baseball.

V. Membership Report: Lori Viola reported that there are no new memberships since last month.

VI. Concession Stand Report: (From the committee) There are numerous events coming up in January, which will be a very busy month for us. We ran out of hot dog bags, so we’ve been wrapping the hot dogs and buns in the wax paper sheets, and this seems to be working well. Thanks to Steve Linder for fixing the popcorn machine! There was a long discussion about nacho cheese machine issues. Regarding the freshmen boys basketball games, some of these weekday games are played the day before. At home, they’re played in the MP.

VII. Old Business:

• Concession Stand renovations: Ann sent out an e-mail to our membership inquiring if anyone able to do work for us on the renovations.
• Boosters Bash: The date is March 15, 2008. We need to check on the cost of The Grove. We also need to let Shawn Maus know and to see if he is able to do big screen set-up for us. There will be conference games on March 15.
• Taxes: Steve Linder reported that Paulin and Hughes assisted us with our taxes. Steve will send a thank you note to them.

VIII. New Business:

• We need to change the date of our next Board Meeting due to the Super Bowl. It was decided to meet the following Sunday, February 10, from 6-7 pm prior to the After Prom meeting. Ann will call about the day and time change.

VII.Adjournment: A motion was made to adjourn the meeting at 7:40 pm by Lori Viola, seconded by Julie Hammons.

The next meeting of the Finneytown Boosters Association Board will take place on Sunday, February 10, 2008 at 6 pm in the Springfield Township Senior Center.
