Day 4 - Part 7

Brian ran trough the garden. He was in shock. He couldn't describe that feeling with any other word. All the time he saw in front of his eyes that girl with bleeding wounds and the words "I have HIV" kept running in his head, one coming after another. Brian wasn't that innocent, he had seen drugs been used and he knew what they could do to a person but situation was still whole new to him.
And she'd been there for a long time. With few words Be-Bob had explained who she was and asked Brian try to find Cara. Cara who probably was with Nick. Was she sick as well? That was an image he couldn't face.
Brian had been aware of the fans maybe more than others but he still didn't know all about it. He didn't understand how they managed to follow them and how close they sometimes got. Brian flinched remembering what that girl had said about blowjobs. Is that how she got it? Did she get HIV because she just wanted to be with them? It couldn't be true. It wasn't true.
Where were they anyway? Nick shouldn't wander alone in the middle of the night. Anything could happen.

Nick was carrying Cara on his back. He enjoyed how she rested her head against his shoulder and how her words came so close when she spoke, it was more like feeling those than hearing. He felt good with that girl. Really good. He felt like he could trust her. He had been wrong so many times he knew that it was different. It wasn't like he had to explain all the things to her, he didn't need to speak, it was enough to keep her close. He wanted to know her, recognize her smell among thousands of others, he wanted to see her sleeping, waking up, after sex, being mad or scared... He wanted to know her and enjoy every little detail he'd learn. Someone could have said to Nick that he was falling in love for the first time in his life, but he would have laughed, like most of us do. It's unbelievable that it could be so easy. Most of the times his affection to someone had built on wanting them, everything else followed. He did want her too, it's not that. But it wasn't everything. It was intimidating, idea of taking her to bedroom. Someone could have said that it was because of the other feelings he had, but he would have laughed. He felt like he could trust her but he was still afraid. As most of us are.

-Are you sure you can carry me? Cara asked softly when they climbed stairs closer to the house.
-You are so light, it's like you're not there, Nick replied. Cara turned her head a little and felt how Nick's short hair rasped her cheek.
-It's not just that, she whispered. -I just...
Nick stopped and listened if she'd continue. But she kept silent. Nick bowed a little and Cara slipped down. Nick turned to see her.
He couldn't believe he had already kissed her. It felt different now. She stood there, looking like she was waiting. If she had closed her eyes, she would have reminded Nick of his first kiss years ago, when he quickly put his lips against neighbor girl.
Instead Nick took her hand and caressed it softly. Cara looked down, not knowing what to do. She knew she wanted to be with him but it felt like too much. Previous day Nick had hardly noticed her presence and now she was waiting a kiss from him. She knew that. But she didn't know what else she wanted. She felt tingles in her stomach like never before but at the same she just wanted to pull her hand away and go to her bed dreaming alone.
Nick bit his lip, looking at her with his head bowed. Then he lifted her up to air.
-Just to make this easier, he shortly said when placing her standing to the next step so that she wasn't that small anymore.

Sight that exposed under Brian's eyes when he took the turn would always stay in his mind. They were about twenty feet away from him, lower in the stairs. All he could see from Cara was her back. But the thing that got him was expression on Nick's face.

Nick held his hands on Cara's waist, her hands were against his chest. Kiss was light, more exploring than first one, more breathtaking, way more intensive. Only their lips were touching, hands were still, just slightly sliding around. He was lost in her touch, in her sense, in her fragrance.
Finally Nick pulled back. He didn't want to, he just couldn't take anymore.
-Lord, you, Nick respired. Cara smiled, not actually knowing what he meant. But then he took her into his arms, holding her real close, and she just hid her face into his neck.

Brian saw how smile spread over Nick's face when he held her. Brian had rarely seen him like that. Actually he could only recall few times, like when Nick was very, very young and they had got to meet that year's Miss USA and she had kissed him on the cheek telling him that he would be heartbreaker when he grew up. She probably didn't mean it like it finally happened but then, being always so unsure of himself, Nick blushed and smiled like an idiot for few hours.

But when Nick saw Brian, his smile died.
-What is it? he asked letting go of Cara who also turned to see Brian. Brian couldn't say a word. He was touched and shocked. Controversy between caring he just saw to the earlier happenings was too edgy.
-Brian, what is it? You look like someone has died, Nick said angrily. -Is someone dead? Brian?!?
Nick strode steps up to Brian and almost shook him. Brian awakened and looked at Nick with empty eyes.
-It's not you. Cara, you're needed in the house.
-Me? she asked gently.
-Yeah. Be-Bob wants you in to your room immediately. Cara didn't ask another question, just started to walk. She passed two men. Nick was about to walk with her when Brian held him back.
-I'm not sure you should go, he said.
-I don't need your permission, Nick replied and wrenched himself free. He paced after Cara but when reaching her couldn't touch her, just walked few steps behind.
Brian almost stayed in the garden. But he knew that eventually he would have to face events of the night. And maybe Nick would need him. He had to be there for Nick. So he started to walk back to the house slowly, keeping Cara and Nick in his sight but not walking with them.
