Day 4 - Part 5
Electricity came even trough a screen. I wondered how it was to have such a strong evidence of the first, crucial moments. In most cases we have to rely on our memories that usually were colored with our own hopes and dreams of that time. She could just put VCR rolling and watch how screen was filled with Nick showing so much effort I had never seen before. If it only was so simple.
Cara stood by the bed shivering. It was late, almost midnight, windows were open, there was no heating and she was wearing only those famous white bikinis and that little nightgown.
-Give her a robe, Nick ordered and soon got one. Softly he helped it on her. Then he threw his arm around her, like it was just a common thing. She put her hand on his waist, leaned little bit closer, waiting Carlos to finish his conversation with Tito.
Soon he turned to speak to them.
-So? Are you happy? I am. You did great work. Now we can say good night.
-But I thought we're gonna do some more shooting tonight, Nick spoke.
-We were supposed to, yeah, Carlos said. -But it's so late. And we have to be out on the beach at 7 am. You have to get some sleep. You go bed, I go tell to other boys.
Carlos left followed by Tito, who still refused to look at Nick or Cara. They stood there, unaware what to do next. In every other situation Nick would have just taken her to his room, to play games, different kinds, but now it felt like she'd see trough him. Nick couldn't explain why it would be a bad thing but it still was.
Cara, on the other hand, felt like she just didn't want to let go. She had Nick close to her and it felt better she ever imagined. He had kissed her!
For a moment they just stood there. Then Nick said:
-Hey, why don't you go change and I'll wait for you here? We can walk back together. I'm sure I'll get lost without you.
He then blushed because of the double meaning those few last words had, but Cara didn't really even hear those.
-Fine. It's only gonna take a minute.
-I don't doubt that, Nick said and blushed again, as did Cara also. He let go of her and she pulled robe tighter around her.
-I'll be back soon, she said, turned and almost ran out of the room.
It took little bit longer than just a minute. Crew had packed their lights and other equipments when she returned.
-Sorry, she said, standing in the doorway. She was wearing jeans and white t-shirt, looking like a young boy with her shaved head. She didn't even have to wear bras. But when she looked up to him, she sparkled like only women do. Even if it was dim and there were ten feet dividing them, he could feel her look in every part of his body.
-No harm done, Nick said. -Ready to go?
She nodded, came slowly closer. Nick offered his hand to her. He felt like if he didn't touch her, he couldn't be sure she really was there.
Camera enters the same lobby Kevin's part were recorded earlier that day. Now there are more people sitting on those stairs. Kevin stands almost in the corner, almost faded into shadows. AJ sits next to Dolores, smiling at her every now and then, while she keeps asking something he couldn't answer. Brian leans to the banister, seeming distracted also.
-Okay, Carlos says. -Sorry to keep you up so late. But you can go bed now. We will continue in the morning with you. Get to mask 8 am. Shooting starts at 10 or so. When we come back from beach. Good night.
-Where's Nick? Howie asks.
-I sent him bed already. You go now too. Buenas noches.
Carlos flees the room still followed by Tito. I get to wonder if he ever leaves his side.
Kevin also leaves immediately, AJ tries to explain to Dolores what just happened, while Brian and Howie get together.
-Not quite what I expected, Brian says.
-No, not really. Wonder how Nick's shooting went.
-I'll stop by at his room. He can't be asleep yet.
If only they knew. But they don't, just say good night and leave to different directions. AJ keeps explaining Dolores, then gives up and kisses her. Romance is in the air.
Nick had suggested route unknown to Cara but she just accepted. It was late, past midnight, but house was still lit and you could hear music and shouting from the garden.
-Band has nothing to do, Nick commented.
-Well, they deserve little bit of fun, I think.
-You must be right.
Then they fell silent again. Nick kept caressing her hand while they walked and it made butterflies fly in Cara's stomach. Then she shivered a little.
-Are you cold?
-No, she said quickly, afraid that Nick would lead her in to the house and leave her there.
-Yes you are. You have only that t-shirt.
Nick tried to avoid thinking how her nipples were delineated against her shirt.
-Here, take my jacket, he said and started to undress.
-Then you'll get cold.
-No.
He would have liked to continue it saying: "I'll never get cold if you're next to me" but somehow knew it would probably scare that girl. So he just handed his jacket to her and helped her to put it on.
-What a great moon! she said few moments later, when they've started to walk again but weren't touching.
-It's beautiful, Nick sighed. -Do you want to sit down for a moment?
Unintentionally they had arrived to small park.
-Or should we go to bed already.
Nick then blushed once again but for his luck Cara understood his words like he had meant those in the first place.
-But I'm not tired at all. Let's sit. Who could sleep on a night like this?
