"The Tenth Anniversary" The first production of the newly formed, Finley Amateur Dramatic and Musical Society, FADAMS, the union of the Finley Amateur Dramatic Society (FADS), and the Finley Musical Society, played to sell out crowds in 2001. FADAMS performed two one act plays, both very different from each other, yet extremely entertaining. The first play was called, "The Tenth Anniversary." In this play, directed by Bruce and Sadie, we meet Ralph, played by Ross and Dimity (Dim), played by Lorraine, who have separated, yet still plan to hold their 'fake' tenth wedding anniversary, for the benefit of their long-time friends, Connor, played by Brad and Shelly, played by Melissa. In the year since the four were last together, however, Connor and Shelly were divorced. They only intended to attend the anniversary dinner for the benefit of Ralph and Dimity! Along the way we meet the exotic Chantelle, played by Melanie and the mysterious Vor, played by Andrew. The second play was the old pantomime favourite, "Cinderella Wore Combat Boots." In this story, directed by John, the King, played by Robyne, proclaims that there will be a Royal Ball where the shy Prince, played by Max, would meet all of the maidens in the kingdom and choose his bride. Sweet, innocent Cinderella, played by Joy, has been ordered not to attend the Royal Ball, by her wicked Step Mother, Motherella, played by Jenny and her two beautiful Step Sisters, Godzella, played by Andrew, and Mazzarella, played by Ken. With the help of her Fairy Godperson, played by Faye (who also plays the Story Teller and the Royal Messenger), Cinderella is transformed into a beautiful princess, ready for the ball. Instead of glass slippers, however, she is left wearing her father's smelly combat boots, handed down to her from his time at the War of the Roses. As with all good Fairy stories, good overcomes evil, and everyone lives happily ever after!
