Of the Third Battle of the Wars of Mishfrem It came to pass that there were nigh on 220 years of peaceful times after the sudden arrival of men. Their kingdoms grew strong and proud with the passing of time and the aging of the earth. But in 4629 EC the Lords of Darkness deemed themselves strong. They looked upon their hordes and were proud for the dark masses of their foul things filled the east. Then they looked outwards beyond their perpetual darkness and what they saw did not please them. The peoples of Mishfrem were yet great and lived in bliss and peace. But the lords and kingdoms of Tielfrem, Delecon, and the dwarves did not sleep. For upon their borders would much of the might of the Darkness fall. But still they decided amongst themselves that the time was long come to strike out at the fair and green kingdoms of Mishfrem. Thus in the winter of 4629 EC three great hosts issued forth from the lands overshadowed by the darkness of evil. The hosts were preceded, as in the other battles, by great black clouds that hung low and thick over the lands. One came from Dilmarth and went forth in great numbers to strike the Gates of Tielfrem. One came from the fortresses under the shadow of the mountains on the south side. The third came from the black cities and towers north of the mountains. Unknown to the Lords of Darkness a great company of horsemen was riding swiftly northward to Lithmini. It came upon the host of Dilmarth suddenly and in a narrow Vale no more than 10 miles from the foot of the hills. There was a great battle fought. In it fell the greater part of the forces of Kalrak. But their lord lived on. He sent his swiftest messenger to Heldronar, King of Tielfrem. He responded saying that he would send a host forth to aid Karmi, Lord of Kalrak, in his quest to pacify the Hills of Dilmarth. But that was a black day and soon after the two hosts joined together they entered the hills of Dilmarth. Many songs and tales tell of the Horrors within those low dark hills. There are great spiders and wraiths. Evil men and dark spirits. But there is also an everlasting and ever-present sense of fear. Of a dark evil pressing in about you seeking to strangle and slay you. This was caused by the evil malice of the King of Darkness. For here in these hills had been his haunts and fortresses of old before he had weakened and given power to his servants, the Lords of Darkness. Thus when the Hosts of Kalrak and Tielfrem reached at long last the gates of the Fortress of Dilmarth they were greeted by a vast host of evil things. None but one were left alive. Karmi was left alive to spread the word of the horrors of Dilmarth. He was tortured but remained strong. Long did he suffer until finally he was released on the borders. Of the host that came from the south side of the mountains much is recorded. It assaulted the Mountain City of the Lithmini on Midwinters day. The men within the city saw them approaching from afar and arrayed themselves for battle. Their King, Nagthor, led them forth onto a high ridge that spanned the gap between the river and the cliffs at the base of the mountains. The men lined up in a glistening wall of shields just as the sun rose in the east. The forces of evil charged at them. A great number fell before the deadly arrows of the Lithmini archers. But many more entered into direct combat with the forces of the Lithmini Kingdom. The great host of Darkness was utterly and completely destroyed. Little is known of the force that assaulted the dwarves. For, to them, it seemed of little consequence. They were almost constantly under attack and another attack seemed of little importance. Thus ended the Third Battle of the Wars of Mishfrem.
