Quest for Middle Earth is based Partly in the Third age of Middle Earth and partly in the Fourth. You can choose to be one of two allingments. Good or Evil. Good tends to be a better choice because it allows more options involving game-play. Like learning skills such as Blacksmithing and healing, political positions, and its just more fun to be good. Then you may choose between one of 16 races. The Good Races are Hobbit, High Elf, Elf, Wood Elf, Man of Bree, Man, Man of Numenor, and Dwarf. The evil races are Orc, Goblin, Barrow Wight, Uruk-Hai, Troll, Cave Troll, Mordor Troll, and Evil Man.
Then you choose a class. there are good and bad classes. Each side has 3 starting classes to choose from. Soldier, who is good at fighting, Peasent, who has access to more different types of skills, and caster, who is skilled in the art of magic. Each of these branches of into many different class trees which I will now list. The good ones are Elven Warrior classes, Warrior Classes, Berserker Classes, Mercenary Classes, Farmer Classes, Merchant Classes, Dwarf Warrior Classes, Ranger Classes, Wizard Classes, Warrior Mage Classes. The evil ones are Morgul Classes, berserker classes, Mordor Classes, Merchant Classes, Farmer Classes, Easterling Classes, Marauder classes, Barrow Wight classes, and Sorcerer classes.
There are huge amounts of weapons and items to find and use. Each is unique and different. There are various tech level and damage levels of weapons. Your weapons may be damaged by more powerful weapons or block a mortal blow. You may use armor or choose to be uneencumbered by such things. Or you may rely on your powerful magic to defend yourself. Then again, you may be the creative type who will forge his/her own weapons.
Quest for Middle Earth also gives you limitless oppurtunites to fight heroes out of the LOTR books, hordes of Uruk-Hai, Balrogs of Morgoth, scouting bands of Wargs, and much more. You may accumulate a mighty fellowship and try to fight your way into Mordor. Or you may join a guild and work on commercial power.
Those and many more things are what you can do in Quest for Middle Earth. But remember, this IS A BOARD GAME. Do not buy it on the assumption that it is a game for a Console of Computer. All the same, it is a wonderful game.
